Value is the degree of lightness or darkness of any object or color. Tonal Value is one of the fundamental skills all artists’ must have in order to have successful paintings and drawings.
This one day workshop is intended for students at any level, either as an introduction or refresher course. We will learn how to actually “see” the value in our work and look past color and style. The workshop will include the following:
· What is the value scale, and how to use it effectively
· Relationships between different values
· Learning to see the value in colors (more difficult step!).
· Recognizing your individual approach to value in your own work and improvements that may be needed.
This workshop will be casual and fun, loaded with great information and exercises to help all students have a better understanding of Tonal Value. Supplies will be minimal.
