Are you just starting painting and can’t figure out how to mix that “perfect” green you want? Or have you been painting a while and have so many colors on your palette you are constantly searching for the “right” color? Then you are not alone, and this workshop will certainly help you out.
During this session we will learn the basic properties of the most common colors used in painting. Using a limited palette, each student will experiment and use exercises designed to clarify the mystery of color. Discussions will include:
· Understanding and re-creating the color wheel
· Which colors are warm and why
· Which colors are cool and why
· All colors have warm and cool properties, and why
· The balance of warm and cool in paintings
· Avoiding “neutral” greys in painting
This course is designed to be fun and informative, and should help anyone understand how to use color more effectively in their work. All levels and media are welcome.
It would be very useful to take the Value Workshop first, but not necessary.
