Dance with the Brush: Sumi with Yuming Zhu
Saturday November 20th, 10-4, $90 + supplies
Feel the movement, experience the Chi flow. Paint with soul is of the fundamental of sumi painting and calligraphy. In this workshop, you will be introduced an authentic Asian perception of which to approach and feel the “object” you want to express in sumi style through your playful, tender inner world. In this workshop you will learn to paint bamboo in the authentic way and Yuming will teach the brief composition of “Chi” (life force) from live blooms in this class. Participants will have plenty time of hands-on instruction.
About the Artist
Yuming Zhu is a very passionate and well-known artist in the greater Seattle area. Sumi/Chinese Watercolor, Oil and Pastel are the mediums Yuming loves to express himself with. He participated in the “Five Thoughts of Asian Art” program that was offered through the Seattle Art Museum and KCTS Channel 9. He continues teaching sumi painting and calligraphy at community colleges, art centers at the Greater Seattle area. Yuming also teaches Sumi through National and regional Sumi Associations, such as chapters in Florida, Puget Sound Sumi association. Also he shows his artworks at galleries in WA and Oregon.
Cancellation Policy: In order to protect our talented instructors and their valuable time, we have the following policy in place for Rockwater Art Center workshop registrations. Tuition must be paid in full to reserve a space in any workshop. Cancellation of registration up to 30 days before the start date will result in a tuition refund less a $50 handling fee, unless otherwise noted in the workshop description. In the event a workshop is cancelled, students will recive a full refund less any non-refundable credit card or paypal fees.
