![]() Into the Knight, Acrylic on Board & Crackle Paste, by Derek Gundy |
"New Inspiration Class" Tuesday Feb. 28th 1-3pm $20 includes most supplies Limited to 12 students. (4 taken, 8 left) Crackle Paste is a thick, opaque cracking material, designed to develop deep fissure-like cracks as it cures. The size and extent of the crackle pattern is dependent on many factors, including the thickness of the application, and the environmental conditions during drying. Films dry to an opaque, matte finish, with an absorbent surface to which subsequent layers of acrylic paint and mediums can be applied. Spend the afternoon with artist Derek Gundy exploring the possibilities in this "New Inspiration" class at Artists' Edge. Each student will receive one 5x5 Ampersand Claybord Painting Surface (pre-primed with Golden Crackle Paste by Derek) Derek will also provide Golden's Regular Gel Gloss as a sealant over the cured Crackle Paste As a group we'll rub Golden Carbon Black or similar dark paint into the board to accentuate the cracks. We'll rub off excess paint from the surface, leaving paint in low points, mostly in the cracks. Then we'll experiment with painting an image or design on the surface. Students should bring: Brushes, one medium, one small. Please bring an image/sketch or two for reference Any acrylic paints or watercolors you'd like to work with. This is the third in a series of "New Inspiration" Classes offered by Artists' Edge...an event where you can gain new inspiration and instruction for roughly the cost of supplies.
